I was inspired after seeing Tristan at Bury Farm in October with his demo and hilarious dressage test as Brett. I had fallen from my very spooky warm blood horse and fractured my wrist and had severe muscle damage to and around my pelvis so was feeling rather battered.
I believe everything in life happens for a reason and seeing Tristan at that time was exactly what I needed to help me with my horse with a ‘north facing compass’, I signed up for the course as soon as I got home and worked with my now lovely boy while I could not ride him for 12 weeks.
It fundamentally changed both of us and the way I treat these amazing animals for ever. If he becomes tense, I now have the tools to work with him to help him cope with the situation. I cannot thank you enough Tristan.
My horse is Gelderlander x Dutch Warmblood. He is a beautiful animal, intelligent, gentle, well mannered but ‘spooky’ with an overdeveloped flight response. The indoor school was his worst environment along with loud bangs, cardboard boxes, small children, horses leaving him alone in the school and anything else he could think of to worry about!
I worked through the entire course, repeating every module, learning from my own mistakes, taking my time and eventually he learnt to cope with himself when shown clappy hands, flags, and cardboard boxes, plus my own ‘additions’. The course has given both of us confidence and trust in each other. He can still have tense moments but the duration and frequency are far less.
Please continue to increase your exposure of the TRT method to the equine world. A lot of people out there could do with your expertise!
