Often when a horse has been showing certain behaviour for a long time, we tend to think it’s because of who the horse is.
For example when he keeps getting tense in certain environments or when it seems impossible to get the piaffe right.
When this continues for a longer period of time and you’ve tried about everything, it becomes part of the ‘story’ of the horse. Include past experiences, breed etc. and we have a ‘story’ of who our horse is.
But a horse only behaves and responds a certain way, because he doesn’t know there’s a better or other way to respond.
Through years of working with horses I’ve realised that, despite the story:
